3D Printing in Criminal Investigations

May 11, 2015

Being able to recreate a crime scene is a big part of many criminal investigations. In the past, this meant taking photographs, outlining bodies, and listening to witness testimonies. Today, thanks to 3D printing technology, prosecutors are able to put the pieces together like never before and make quicker, more definitive convictions to take dangerous criminals off the streets.

3D printing has already shown its application in criminal investigations several times over, most recently in a murder in Birmingham. A man was suspected to have killed a tenant of his, then chopped up the corpse for disposal. Even though the body was partially burned and spread out across several disposal sites, a high-end 3D scanner was able to recreate the complete corpse and bring forward valuable evidence in the murder case.

If 3D printing can solve a murder case, just imagine what it could do for you! Call our rapid prototyping company in Seattle to learn more about how you can bring your dreams into reality with the help of 3D printing.
