Stratasys announced on January 16th that its Objet30 OrthoDesk and Objet Eden 3D printers will now be lending their particular brand of magic to the world of dental surgery. By creating more accurate drill guides, implants, and prosthetics, 3D printer technology is now allowing for a greater patient experience in the dental chair.
The Stratasys 3D printing technology is being paired with 3Shape Implant Studio, an implant planning and guided surgery software which is designed to make dental surgeries quicker and more cost-efficient. With a combination of 3Shape’s digital impressions and CBCT scans, dentists utilizing this new technology will be able to achieve more accurate implant planning to produce higher quality prosthetics for their patients.
As Avi Cohen, the Director of Global Dental, Stratasys, said, “We are very pleased that our dental lab customers now have access to complementary solutions from the 3Shape Implant Studio Implant Planning and Guided Surgery System. The two companies have collaborated to produce highly accurate surgical guides while refining additional 3D printing solutions toward the accelerated implementation of the digital dental highway for dental labs worldwide.”
