Could 3D Printing Save the World?

February 8, 2016

When we look around at the problems plaguing the world today, it can be easy to be pessimistic. Some are arguing that we’re already past a point of no return, where we should not be trying to fix the planet but rather trying to make the best of a bad situation. However, not everyone has such a bleak outlook. One such person is Professor Neri Oxman, who believes that 3D printing could literally save the world.

The idea is not to hard to accept. We’ve already seen many ways that 3D printing is helping us to make better use of the planet’s resources. Observing this, Oxman envisions a new Industrial revolution modeled after the natural world. Oxman describes how previous Industrial revolutions were “indifferent” to the world’s economy, and how our new technology has given us the means to not only exist in harmony with the world, but also improve on its design.

We’ve seen body parts made from 3D printing, 3D printed food, organ transplants, and many more. It’s sure to say that the 3D printing technology has a lot for us to look forward to. If you would like to start on a project or a prototype, contact our Seattle 3D printing company today to learn more.
