Nano Dimension to Develop Circuit Board Printer

October 13, 2014

Designing circuit boards is not an easy process. It involves a lot of long hours and delicate work. It is for this reason that Nano Dimension hopes to revolutionize the computer industry with a printer designed for rapid prototyping circuit boards.

On October 1st, 2014, the Israeli Office of the Chief Scientist gave a substantial grant to Nano Dimension for the purposes of developing a printer capable of creating functional circuit boards. This desktop-sized 3D printer makes use of a type of inkjet deposition technology, wherein conductive and insulating nanoparticles are layered to create quick, easy circuits.

It is the hope of the company to allow developers to “innovate and experiment freely without feeling constrained by the current PCB manufacturing process.” Processes that used to take hours or days at a time could potentially be done in a matter of minutes. Meanwhile, as conventional circuit board manufacturing would often require turning to outsourcing, a circuit board printer could allow a company to keep everything in house. Our 3D printing company in Seattle is excited to see this new technology develop into a remarkable boon for the entire computer industry.
