Our 3D printing company in Seattle has discussed in the past the possibilities of using 3D printing to create movies. Now, a fully 3D printed movie is making its debut at the Annecy International Animation Festival. This film, which comes to us from digital artist Gilles-Alexandre Deschaud, is a short titled Chase Me.
Representing two years of work, Chase Me is made up of photographs of entirely 3D printed models and sets. It took 2,500 pieces manufactured on a Form 1 + SLA 3D Printer. The story follows a young girl as she walks through a magical forest, wherein her shadow transforms into a fearsome monster that chases after her. The creator describes the story as being about “embracing your fears, and turning them into something beautiful”.
After its premier at the Annecy International Animation Festival, Chase Me will also be seen at the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival.
