For a while now, your options for 3D printing have been fairly monochromatic. If you wanted to print out an object with more than one color, you would generally need to rely upon fairly expensive printers or resort to simply coloring in the finished product by hand. Now, however, our 3D printing company in Seattle is witnessing some exciting new advancement in color 3D printers that may become available to you in the near future.
The process is surprisingly simple: through the use of some specially-fitted attachments, a Brazilian group known as Kikai has affixed their printer with colored Sharpie pens and programmed the machine to add pigmentation to the layers of a printed object as they are being placed. Kikai is still refining the process, making tweaks in both the hardware and software, but it has announced plans to eventually distribute the pen attachment device as an accessory for their line of 3D printers. Consumers may be able to download their software and purchase their pen attachments in the near future.
